Q. When are sign ups open?

Q. Do I have to be a witch to sign up?
A. Nope! Anyone who wants to sign up can, as long as they are 18 years old and have a valid Instagram account. We just ask that you have a genuine desire to be a part of the community, and want to meet others who like witchy things.
Q. What happens to my personal info?
A. The questionnaire you fill out will be sent to the partner who will be sending your gift. You are still responsible for sending them your mailing address. Please refer to our privacy policy for more in depth info about what happens with your information.
Q. Why is there a fee?
A. We charge a fee to help maintain the website, pay for replacement packages, and compensate our time. If you are interested in donating items or money to go towards replacement packages, consider contributing or becoming A Patron
Q. Can I sign up multiple times?
A. No, but if you’d like to participate in multiple letter swaps, we suggest joining our Patreon community. This will give you access to a bonus channel where you can meet new pen pals, make friends and find your circle.
Q. Do I have to have an Instagram to participate?
A. Yes. This is where the majority of communications with your partners will happen. We use Instagram because we love the rich, vibrant community and it helps us to validate users. We use Instagram as a way to vet our participants, and if you do not have an active account, you will be unable to participate. We value the safety of our participants, and this helps us make sure you are who you say you are.
Q. How many people do I have to send to?
A. You will be sending one package to a partner, and receiving a package from a different partner. All of our swaps are 3 Way, which makes sure everyone gets matched with a partner in cases of odd numbers of folk who signed up.
Q. How do I get my partner’s mailing address?
A. In order to protect everyone’s privacy, you will have to get acquainted with your partner through Instagram. Send them a direct message introducing yourself! Find out more about them and let them know who you are. Once y’all get to talking, politely ask them for their address so you can send out their Swap package. If you are having concerns about your partner, or do not feel safe providing your address, please get in touch!
Q. What if I don’t like my partner?
A. Partner matching is not fool proof. We try our hardest playing match maker, however people are complex! You may have different beliefs or disagree with your partner on certain things, but we hope this can be seen as an opportunity to learn something new. That being said, it does take all kinds to make our world go round, and that means jerks and assholes have a place too. If this is the case with your partner, feel free to send your package and never talk to them again! Its up to you. However, if your partner is bullying you, or making you feel generally unsafe, we can help! Contact us, ASAP!
Q. What if my partner still hasn’t gotten in touch?
A. Some people are slow starters. Give them two weeks after partner emails are sent out, and then get in touch with us.
Q. Is there a spending limit?
A. There is a limit of $150 not including shipping. There is no minimum because we want to keep this accessible to everyone. You don’t have to spend anything on your partner as long as you follow the package guidelines. However don’t use this as an excuse to dump your dirty, broken or rotting items. If you wouldn’t be delighted opening your gift, think how your partner would feel. Please be considerate.
Q. Is the cost of shipping including in the spending limit?
A. Nope! Please keep this in mind when sending packages. Shipping can get expensive, especially with heavy boxes or international gifts. Check out this handy shipping estimator by the US Post Office.
Q. What do I have to include in my package?
A. Please include at least 5 magickal items of no less than a total of $50, and a letter explaining any significance and correspondences. The rest is up to you!! Just avoid sending anything dirty, broken, rotting (taxidermy is fine) or foul-smelling and stay within the guidelines of the postal service. If you are shipping internationally please be sure to check the customs website of your partners Country to see what is allowed to be imported.
Q. What if I haven’t received my package?
A. Please wait until two weeks past the swap mailing deadline to contact us about this. If it is after the date mentioned in your, please contact us!
Q. I’ve had a personal emergency and can’t send a package anymore!
A. We are sorry to hear this, but worry not! Get in touch with us so we can get a replacement package out to your partner! Please keep in mind that improper planning does not constitute an emergency. We make sure everyone who signs up gets a package, so please be sure to let us know what is going on!
Q. What if I have to send a late package?
A. Better late than never! We suggest getting in touch with your partner and letting them know what’s going on. Also maybe consider giving them your package tracking number, so they can keep an eye on it.
Q. My partner never let me know if they received their package, what should I do?
A. Firstly, check the tracking info on your receipt from the post office. That should let you know if there are any postal complications. If not, maybe no news is good news? Not everyone participates in the same way online, so don’t be offended. Just keep on keeping on! If you are really worried you can always send them a quick message, but try not to make them feel uncomfortable!
Q. I want to donate items or money to help with replacement packages, how do I do this?
A. You can send items or checks to Witch Swap, P.O. Box 452, JEFFERSONVILLE, NY 12748. Or become a Patron here! Also, anyone who joins our patreon community will have sign up fees waived, and lots of other bonus goodies.
Q. My swap package is dirty, damaged, broken or missing, what do I do?
A. We are so sorry! Everyone has different ideas about things and some people are just plain inconsiderate. Fortunately, we have systems in place to deal with this sort of thing. Please get in touch and let us know what is going on. We are here to help!!
Q. I don’t think my partner has sent my gift!
A. Don’t feel awkward about asking them to provide you with the tracking number. Sometimes things happen to packages, Its better to be safe than sorry. More than likely your partner put a lot of care into cultivating a gift for you, it would hurt their feelings if you never received it! If they don’t respond to your messages, or appear to never have sent anything, please Contact us!
