For this week, we have a piece of ocher, a small porcelain heart shaped plate, and two rattles from the tail of a rattlesnake. The decks we used are the Hermetic Tarot, the Fountain Tarot, and the Waite Smith Deck.

Ocher is a natural mineral pigment harvest to make paints and natural dyes. It is ground into a powder and then added liquid to make a paste. This color can then be shifted by the addition of heat, other minerals, or changing the pH. It houses so much potential for creative expression, and is truly a raw material. It can be transformed with our minds and creativity in nearly limitless ways.

2 of swords represents coming to a stalemate or a truce. You see two swords come to rest with not once being more powerful than the other. Two heavy ideas with equal weight in your mind cause it to be hard to make a choice. Often the most difficult decisions are like this because of the complexities involved. Sometimes it helps to just take a moment of pause, and not jump to any conclusions. Just allow yourself to sit with the feeling of being on the brink of action.

When the tower shows up reversed, it can indicate that you are resistant to making the changes you need to in order to move forward. It is important to remember that change often brings relief and new opportunities. Sometimes we have to let shit hit the fan and stop trying to control everything.

The Empress is a card of nurturing and creativity, and when it shows up reversed, it can indicate energy blockages. Its very hard to feel creative when you’re feeling disempowered. This card reminds you that you have the potential for creative rebirth inside of you. You are the only own in charge of your feelings and actions.

Porcelain is a material that represents the power of transformation. It goes for a very fragile clay, and through extreme temperatures it is changed into something very durable and resistant to many things. This heart offers its love in a way that is resilient and able to withstand heartbreak.

The 10 of swords reversed indicates great struggle, which is nearing its end. It can be through recovery that we are able to find grace and lessen the hurts caused in the past. As we begin to recognize the patterns of behavior that have brought us to this point, we can begin to let go of the pain and hurt caused by them. This process can be sometimes painful to receive, however it allows us to move forward with our lives instead of being trapped by our pain.

Judgement calls us to asses our lives and be reborn in the ways that we desire, instead of those ways we are programed. It calls us to let go and move past the hang ups and things that don’t serve us. We can create our ideal selves in this moment, choice by choice. As we focus our energy and efforts on the things that we desire, those things will come to us. Take a moment to listen to your true self and see what it has to say.

3 of Pentacles reversed says that you have been let down by expectations in relation to groups and collaboration. It could be for a friend circle, relatives, or those at work. It is important to remember that these conflicts are mirrors to our shadow self. When we see something that makes us very uncomfortable about others, it is usually something that upsets us about ourselves which is the root of the problem. Take a look through the eyes of others to help gain a deeper insight to these pains.

Rattlesnake tails are a very strong protection symbol. It is the representation of a barrier, that when crossed, can be deadly. The sound can send even the strongest, and bravest running. If you’ve ever heard this sound in person it is very overpowering emotionally- with good reason. It is an instinctual behavior to flee from harm. Our fear response can protect us in so many ways. However, problem arises when this response is triggered irrationally- Anxiety takes over. Can you transform your fear response into a positive force?

The Magician is one who sees all, manipulates the situation through use of will and power. It represents an archetype of discipline and skill, aquired through mastery of ones’ self. This card is the embodiment of the playing offense instead of defense- acting 3 steps head of the intended outcome. Turn your mind to finding balance and control and you will be successful in your endeavors.

Knight of swords is a swift call to action. It can represent a mindset of act now, ask questions later. It can also be a hasty decision or quick to judgement. This card is one that calls to quick decisions and forward momentum.

The Sun reversed can indicate that you are experiencing some feelings that are less than bright. Possibly depression or anxiety in relation to this situation. It is healthy to seek help from a trusted friend in times like these. Depression is the kind of thing that breeds in darkness. Shed light on it- talk about it. It removes some of the venom.
