Witches We Love : Mint!
Hello lovely humans! Welcome to our weekly feature, Witches we love! This week we are excited to introduce to you the lovely Mint, from @mintfaerie on instagram. We love her whimsical aesthetic and artistic photos and know you will too! She also runs a lovely youtube channel, so be sure to check her out and give her a follow!
We sat down together and got to know her and her practice a bit better. You can read the following interview below! Be sure to let us know what you think! We love to hear from you.
Tell us about yourself, and how you came across witch craft?
Hey! I'm Mint, aka Mintfaery and I have been practicing magick for a little over 25 years now. Magick and spirituality has always been a huge part of my life as it was a part of my family life and upbringing as well. Many of the traditions and rituals that I grew up with were heavily influenced by family culture and would be considered witch craft by many people today. I was always very interested in plants and herbal magick, as well as meditation and the mastery of ones extra abilities. I was totally the weird kid hanging upside down in a tree trying to contact the spirit of the oak 🤣
What inspired you to start your YouTube channel? Loneliness, really. I missed the magick community in Orlando after I moved and just wanted to talk about magick again. I wanted to show people that witches aren't all scary, and that anyone could learn and practice magick. I love connecting with people and sharing stores and experiences so it seemed like a fun way to do that.
Who are some of your witchy influences?
Hmmmm, let's see. My family, mostly! Mickie Mueller was always a huge influence of mine. And honestly, I was so inspired by fairy tales and the folk stories that I learned as a child. Gentle princesses who were so kind that animals were comfortable around them. I've always been incredibly influenced by gentle, yet firm characters. People who were both sweet and fierce.
What do you feel is a piece of underrated advice for beginners? Overrated advice?
Trusting in your ability to be more powerful than negative influences. I always want to instill the idea that you are more powerful than you think and that your intuition is such a power tool. I think all advice is good, really. I think overused terms lose their potency though.
What makes you feel most witchy?
Nudity, probably 🤣 And when all of my animals join me in ritual, thats always thrilling for me. When the line up behind the altar and the oups lay at my feet.
What accomplishment makes you feel most proud of yourself?
Forgiveness. It can be so very difficult to forgive those who have hurt you, but its such a power move to be able to let that go and understand that we are all growing.
What’s your unpopular opinion about the witch craft community?
That it isn't diverse enough. I think that there are many practicing witches from different backgrounds who feel like they aren't welcome in certain spaces. I'd love for that to change. I believe that everyone deserves to find a place in the community and feel like they can be themselves within it.
