You Do You, Woo.

January 10, 2020 by Guest User

Our Craft is our own.
There is no simpler way to say it.

Imagine this, you are enjoying a meal with friends. There is much on the menu or table. Nearly everything looks amazing and you happily fill your plate with what you love. Then you are stopped by your host, and told that you have to add a heap of goodies you never have seen before, despite the fact that they don’t suit your taste. They insist- "This is THE ONLY WAY to have the meal, and you can't eat here again if you don't do this."

Back in your seat and you are really loving most of the meal, but the other bits you took- not so much. Some parts are slimy and hard to swallow; other parts are gritty and grinds in your teeth. You look around and see that almost everyone else is experiencing the same thing. Suffering quietly, with dwindling passion for the moment and a swiftly dying interest in being there. So you crunch and gulp on, feeling queasy and wishing the meal was over. You leave feeling undernourished, and frankly- bullied.

Would you keep going there? Would you be able to fake it through being force-fed things you could not stand- that had no value to you?

Hell no, you wouldn’t! Neither would I! More likely than not, that is one of the reasons you were drawn to the Kraft in the first place. So why would you let other witches do the same thing to you?

If you'd been able to trust your intuition and looked around the table/restaurant more closely, you may have seen that there were others who were relishing their meal. Eating with gusto and filling up their bodies with all they loved and not a spot of anything they didn't want on their plate!

Sure, they wouldn't be welcome there again, but hey, they had a damn fine meal and got what they needed from it without pressuring anyone else.

Would they mind that they couldn't come back? Hell no! Because they will inherently just seek out places where they are free to consume what they need in peace.

So I'll say it again, our Kraft is our own. It nourishes us. It is to our spirit and soul what good food is to our bodies. We wouldn't return to a place where we felt our well being was being dictated to us, so WHY would we leave others to make such crucial decisions for our Kraft?

Starting on any new path is daunting. And witchcraft is no different. The history alone is daunting. There are, if we take the time to read and learn, so, so, so many ways to approach it. And therein lies it's magick. There are exactly that many ways to approach it as there are Witches.

Being a witch means many things. Again, it's very much up the individual. But generally, Witches live in harmony with the earth, Moon and cosmos. Working within the seasons, with the energy around them, to create the life and outcomes they desire. There is no good or bad in Kraft, there is no Black and White. Just energy. And the will to create.

How anyone could think that this spectrum of opportunity can be cast into a mold of any sort, and rules be given to curate something this vast, is completely beyond me.

THERE ARE NO RULES.

We don't need to be herded in our most private and sacred of spaces.

Our day to day lives, functioning within the great societal machine we live in does that to every other aspect of our existence, and I feel that that is more enough, and then some.

We don't need to be controlled and told how to be Magickal when our inherent inner freedom is what fuels our individual power as a being.

Let's remember that Witches over the last few hundred years couldn't just pop to a dollar store and pick up green candles that the Mage down the valley INSISTED they need for their spell or else it wouldn't work...

They used what they had, and their magick was no less intensely powerful. To the contrary in fact. Because I believe, intention is everything. Tools and props may enhance. But they are NOT the magick.

YOU ARE.

So, learn, reach out, ask questions, borrow aspects of spells, integrate elements of rituals you love and have found, and adapt prayers, for sure. But use them to build your own Kraft, your own way.

A wonderful way to enrich your Kraft and learn is to get involved in communities, covens, online groups and the like.

Community is magnificent for sharing and learning. It has worked since the dawn of time.

But when anyone begins to tell you that you are suddenly unable to create magick because you don't have the cute little bottles they happen to sell on their site, or the spell can't work unless you buy the book they wrote it in, and that to be a pure form of magick you need the EXACT ingredients (that are only available near where they live, but they will ship it to you for $10), then just know that that magick isn't yours, it's theirs.

And all power to them for creating what they need, where they are.

YOU, however, need to create your own magick, for you. EXACTLY where you are, with what you have. And then, if you are led in any way to use an item not found near you, seek it out. But never because someone said you had to.

Tools, herbs, stones, candles, words... these are all interchangeable and adjustable. You, within your Kraft, are not. It's unique to you, and your intuition drives it.

Unless we allow our inner voice, our knowing, our intuition, to speak too and through us, we will struggle to bring our magick to life authentically, and it will never fully nourish our Kraft.

We live in a society that wants and needs us to conform, to shut up and listen and do as we are told and it causes us to be deeply lacking in the ability to know what is best for ourselves, and what FEELS right.

Honing our intuition is one of the greatest gifts we can give to ourselves and our Kraft.

The ability to know what is best for us is priceless, and something that no other can take from us. It's powerful.

Deeply so.

We are not here to police or shape your Kraft for you, but I'll share wisdom here. One of the strongest pieces of advice I have been given as a Witch (and as a Woman, and sentient being) was to focus HARD on growing and nourishing my intuition. And I have. It has been one of my most precious life tools.

It's the tool that will help you discern what you and your Kraft need, without anyone dictating to you how it needs to look.

Your inner knowing is vital to making your kraft your own. It's also vital for self-trust and self-love.

If you're not feeling or hearing your intuition yet, that's ok too. It takes time to nurture it to the strength of your other senses. But it's there. We all have it.

Some of the ways you can tune into your intuition more are breathing exercises, meditation, and a few other techniques you can work with. If you'd like to know more, there is a post with 5 Beautiful ways to grow your intuition, my own blog about this.

I'll say it again before I go. YOU ARE YOUR KRAFT.

YOU ARE THE MAGICK.
YOUR KRAFT IS YOURS.

Blessed be Sweet Souls.
