Mabon & Ostara
MAIN RITUAL
Mabon and Ostara are the brother and sister sabbats for the spring and autumn equinox depending on your hemisphere.
This ritual is intended to hold us through the sunrise out of, or into, this winter of 2020, a time when harvests may have seemed smaller, or the tending into an unknown spring may feel a little more futile than other years.
Liminal space magic is powerful, and as we feel the sun over us on this turn of the wheel, we call to mind what abundance will hold us through the winter, or what seeds we wish to plant in our upcoming longer days.
Remember always, we have someone on the other side of the wheel holding us on their hearth or in their sunshine, and we call to mind 'as above so below' can hold us across the equator just as profoundly as in the spaces above and below our humble planet.
MABON
When you wake up, first light your candle and brew your tea.
Add the mint and honey for taste and with intention.
It's for you to *enjoy* and bask in.
Don't drink any until later in the ritual.
If you can manage a morning without speaking to anyone, the meditation can drop a bit deeper.
Find a comfortable space you'll be able to see the sunrise and settle in with your tea mug between your hands.
As you play the music, close your eyes and meditate on what you can harvest to sustain you through the winter.
Is it love? Friendship? Financial abundance? Health? Curiosity? A new interest? A community? New found empowerment?
Harvests come in many many forms...what have you earned this summer?
As the song comes to an end, write in just a few words what came to mind and bury the paper in your dirt.
Silently sit with the sun until your candle burns down, drinking in the warmth of your hard work.
Thank anyone who came to join you, and place the jar somewhere you will see it daily, reminding you that spring will again come.
Use this soil to tend your first seedlings in the new equinox in the spring.
OSTARA
When you wake up, first light your candle and brew your tea.
Add the mint and honey for taste and with intention.
It's for you to *enjoy* and bask in. Don't drink any until later in the ritual.
If you can manage a morning without speaking to anyone, the meditation can drop a bit deeper.
Find a comfortable space you'll be able to see the sunrise and settle in with your tea mug between your hands.
As you play the music, close your eyes and meditate on what you would like to plant, nurture, and protect in the coming spring and lengthening days.
What was missing from your winter? What are you craving or wanting to make deliberate space for as your light waxes in the coming months?
There is so much reflection in the cold, cosy nights of winter...how can you honour them *and* move yourself forward?
As the song comes to an end, write in just a few words what came to mind and bury the paper in your dirt.
Silently sit with the sun until your candle burns down, drinking in the warmth of your intentions, letting it fortify you to the core for the work to come.
Thank anyone who came to join you, and when the time comes, use this soil for your first seedlings, reminding you each time you tend them to honour your growth and intent.
