Consume the moon

February 17, 2020 by Timothy Theyson

I once heard someone say that there is no such thing as easy magick and I couldn’t disagree more.

The issue is not whether the magick is easy or hard. It’s about the feeling that’s put into it. If you’ve read my work before, then you know I always say, “If it feels magickal, then it is.”

I’m going to show you how to do easy magick that you can put a lot of feeling into and have a result that everyone in your family can partake in.

Unless you’re a journalist trying to become a witch in a week, chances are you’ve heard of moon water. Now, moon water can be made at any time as different cycles of the moon carry different attributes and these only grow based upon the weather and other factors. I prefer to make water on the full moon because it is for manifesting. I also try very hard to keep my water away from artificial light sources like porch lights.

Now the question is, what sacred rights need to be performed to make this water? How many goat skulls and dead donkey hairs do you need? The good news is you need almost nothing. Just a jar and water.

Place the jar out just after sunset and retrieve it just before sunrise. The belief is that the water will absorb the energies of the moon and contain it inside.

Now you can do just about anything you want with this water. You can sprinkle it around your home, bathe in it, make coffee with it, but for our purpose here, we’re going to cook with it. More specifically, we’re going to make soup.

When you make a witch soup, you should have a goal in mind. If you haven’t noticed already, everything carries symbolism of some kind. From carrots for fertility (or “fertilizing your spell”) to salt for protection, everything you will put in the pot holds symbolism and your spell will be more powerful if you familiarize yourself with the meanings of your ingredients. This also allows you to pick ingredients that align with what you’re trying to achieve. If you’re wanting to manifest something in your life, add herbs for manifestation or even more specifically for the exact goal you have in mind. A love soup for example would contain all phallic vegetables and a single red rose petal.

Do two parts broth to one part moon water. I make a large pot so I do a gallon of broth and a half gallon of water. Next will come your ingredients. Some would tell you to add them in a circle going to the right to bring in blessings and to the left to banish. I’ve done this and I’ve also just dropped stuff in. Do what feels right to you. Next come your herbs and if you participate in any herbal or folk magick, what you choose to use is paramount. Keep in mind you want this to taste good too, so choose wisely.

When everything is done cooking, serve a bowl to yourself first. You are the one performing the spell and therefore the one to finish it. I suggest picking a phrase for what you’re trying to achieve. I have one I always use that is Latin and has served me quite well. Take a spoon and stir your bowl three times while saying your phrase. Now take a bite.

If you are serving to others, you can now set your bowl to the side and serve them as well. If you’re wanting them to achieve the same thing as you, repeat the above step excluding taking a bite and then serve them their bowls.

I started this spell as a way to ingest my magick. You have to consider that when you eat something, it becomes part of your body. The food will literally break down and enter every part of you in one way or another and therefore, your magick will fill your entire body.

So yes, there is such a thing as easy magick, but it should always be knowledgeable magick. Learn the moon phases and what water will serve the purpose you’re trying to achieve. Research your ingredients and herbs to embed your food with power and magick. As witches, the most important thing we can do is educate ourselves, read and research.

This doesn’t stop with soup either. Using moon water as a base for your cooking can help you start a spell for any meal and embed your spell within your body, making you walk around with your magick inside you.
