How has your practice evolved over the years?
The change to one’s practice is such a beautiful thing to see evolve. Seeing the journey from watching 'the craft' as a 10 year old and knowing it was something I wanted in my life (not the crazy Nancy part!). Then getting into Buddhism in my mid teens to spiritually escape from my Catholic education. Finding my way to witchcraft again and seeing it work its way into my sketches and drawings has been such a joy. Thinking where it may go in the future is one of those lovely unknowns
When did you get into art?
Art has been a huge part of my life. Since I can first remember as an only child growing up on a farm in rural Australia, mum used art and drawing as a way to keep me busy and content. I studied art in high school but had to put it aside while I pursued my nursing education and career. Now I've made art my life and part of my practice.
To me, art is the best way I can truly communicate with the world. While what I see in my mind usually doesn't look like what ends up on paper, it feels good to see the result.
What advice would you give to beginner witches?
To the beautiful beginner witches, I would tell them to learn, to read, to educate themselves. To learn about the witches that came before them, how hard the path was back then, and to have a healthy respect for it. Not even 5 years ago, being a witch wasn't seen as it is today.
I would also love for beginner witches to know that they don't need all the pretty, shining, glittery, brand new tools. You can have a million tarot decks, own all the herbs in the world, have candles in every colour possible, but if one doesn't have pure intention then the tools and the magick is empty. It's ones intention that truly matters. It's what makes your practice come to life.
What your favorite ritual?
Oddly enough, my favourite ritual is entity and dark attachment removal! I love calling upon my spirit team and star family and voicing out loud how I wish for their help to remove, delete, and destroy, any dark and malevolent entities and attachments of any form. I think it's my favourite because it's one that, for me, works spiritually, emotionally, mentally, and physically. and the feeling of being cleansed and lighter is oh-so nice!
What are some of your artistic inspirations?
Inspiration for me comes from all the things I love and am fascinated with. It's why space, especially the moon and planets, feature so prominently. I try to put into my sketches how those things make me feel; usually it's a sense of awe and amazement.
Space and the cosmos is such an inspiration because I find it it's size and possibilities unfathomable.
I am also inspired by what I personally find beautiful, which is usually things found in nature and in my practice.
