Tell us a bit about yourself and how you came across your practice.

I've identified as a pagan since my teens in the early 2000s, and have been actively practicing on and off since then. Growing up I wasn't raised in any particular religion, so when I found paganism it really clicked. Friends who were interested in alternative spirituality introduced me to paganism, and then books that ranged the pagan spectrum. Growing up near Salem, Massachusetts also helped as when there was nothing to do in my hometown, my friends and I would go to the occult shops that were open late and browse the tools, herbs, and resources they had. The final piece was that during this I also began to find the mysticism and sacred in nature, and that’s where I first heard the Gods, and started my polythestic practice.

What are some stepping stones that helped influence you?

Building my own practice has been a long process, one that has had a lot of steps, and one that I honestly didn’t plan out until more recently. After finding a polytheistic path, I started to look for other pieces of my practice. Tarot was and has been a huge one, using it mainly to create an avenue for self-discovery, but more recently for actual divination as well. More recently I’ve been exploring actual magical practice, casting runes, exploring traditional witchcraft, and doing actual group rituals.

What advice would you give to your younger self or a baby witch?

If I were to give advice to someone who’s just starting out and finding their path, I’d say read broadly, but once you find something that calls to you deep dive into that practice. Follow your gut and your own intuition, because sometimes that might be something bigger than you calling you to a path. Finally remember, that despite what a large part of society tells us, your path is your own, don’t compare yourself to what you see others doing, and concentrate on creating the best version of yourself, and it will strengthen your own magical practice.
