Witches We love: Meg
Every Wednesday we like to feature a witch from our community that truly stands out. Meg from @witchoftheshoreline is truly inspiring with her words and her actions. She and Louisa from @thewitchesstone have put together a beautiful community over at Witch.With.Me. Her words are so very inspiring, and uplifting during times of hardship, like this. Community is so very important to her, and her actions have helped to make the Instagram witch community more enjoyable.
We took a few moments to interview Meg a few months ago, and we wanted to share this with you in a more permanent way. We hope you love her as much as we do, and enjoy getting to know her a bit better! Be sure to check her out, if you’re not already following her. You won’t be disappointed.
I have always been interested in the universe and it’s mysteries. It has been an innate pull my whole life. ...So much so I majored in religious studies in college and hold a master’s degree from Yale Divinity School! But, nothing has ever made total sense and peace with my soul the way witchcraft does. I have studied different ideas about the occult my whole life but started incorporating them into a daily lifestyle after my son was born. It was time to take complete agency in my life and I am forever grateful this path opened up its arms to me. I was ready. Good thing too because I am currently running the amazing grassroots community @witch.with.me and finishing my book about the healing power of Witchcraft due out in October. My ultimate mission is to help #wakethewitches and so we can take our place at the dawn of a new era informed by intention, intuition, and community.
I am out of the broom closet as of recently to my closest friends and family. My husband has known for years and supports me 100% which is probably what made flying out to everyone else easier. Because of who I am, my practice shocked exactly no one and any doubts I had were in my head. I really need to work on trusting others love me like I love them .
I always get asked things like “but where do I START?!” or “but which rules do I follow?!” Coming from a Roman Catholic background, I totally get it. My advice is to know witchcraft is not something you conquer, but rather a slow immersion; a marathon and not a sprint. Start by learning all you can about a tool or method or idea in witchcraft that sparks your soul. Let that knowledge inspire and inform action. Watch your witchcraft bloom from these seedlings. Then, begin again. As above, so below.
